How to Boot Windows into Safe Mode
From EZWatch Wiki
If your Windows system is experiencing problems, a common support solution may involve booting your computer into Safe Mode. Safe Mode is a special diagnostic mode of windows that does not launch ANY programs or initialize any drivers except the bare minimum to get windows to load. This can be especially useful in recovering after a virus or spyware attack.
To boot your computer into Safe Mode, ensure the system is turned entirely off first.
Turn the power on. While the system is booting up, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Tap it about twice per second. If your screen shows the Windows Splash Screen (The screen that shows the Windows Logo with the bars below), then your system has booted up too far and you'll need to try again.
If this succeeds, you'll see the following screen :
On this screen, you cannot use your mouse. You must use the up/down arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight the appropriate selection, and the 'ENTER' key to choose it.
For most problems, you will want to select just plain 'Safe Mode' from the menu. You may be instructed (By a technical representative or by another Wiki page) to select another option from this menu, but if not then 'Safe Mode' is always the best choice to make.
After selecting Safe Mode, it will display a full list of all Windows Operating Systems that are installed on your computer - there should only be a single choice here, so simply press 'Enter'.
If you are tapping the F8 key on your system but you consistently see the system boot to the Windows screen, your Keyboard may have a 'F-Lock' key. Ensure that this key is turned on. If the problem persists, contact your system manufacturer for further instruction.
You may receive an error message about a 'stuck key' while it is booting - it is safe to simply hit F1 to continue past this message.
