How to Turn On Windows Automatic Updates

Using Windows XP

Step 1: Click on the Start button then click on Control Panel Step 2: In the Control Panel click on Security Center

Step 3: In the Security Center click on Automatic Updates

Step 4: Choose your option for how Windows automatically updates the PC (recommended setting is Automatic)

Step 5: Click Ok

Using Windows Vista

Step 1: Click on the Pearl (start button) then click on Control Panel

Step 2: In the Control Panel click on Security Center

Step 3: In the top left corner of the Security Center click on Windows Update

Step 4: Choose your option for how Windows automatically updates the PC (recommended setting is Install Automatically)

Step 5: Click Ok

You have now configured your PC to automatically download critical updates for your computer and install them.
